Specific Workstation Features:

CounterWatch: Performance Counter Monitoring

CounterWatch for Windows monitors the performance of your Windows desktops via the available performance counters installed with Windows and all Microsoft applications, and for various 3rd party applications that take advantage of the performance counter option in Windows. Performance Counters are available for all aspects of the hardware, including CPU, Disk, Memory, and Network, and software applications. All CounterWatch data is logged and can be reported on to provide baseline and trending data.

CounterWatch for Linux/Unix monitors CPU utilization and Load Average counters. All of the various CounterWatch features available for Windows CounterWatch are also available for these Linux/Unix Counters including monitoring and alerting for exceeding thresholds, for creating dynamic graphs, and for baseline and trend reports.

EventLogWatch: Real-Time Event Log Monitoring and Archive Log Management

EventLogWatch monitors Windows desktops in real-time for entries into the various Event Logs including all the available Microsoft Event Logs, as well as 3rd party Custom Event Logs. This includes the new EVTX Event Log formats introduced with Vista and Windows 7 as well as the ‘classic’ EVT Event Log format for all earlier Windows versions.

ProcessWatch: Real-Time Process Monitoring

ProcessWatch monitors selected Windows & Linux processes to make sure they are running; and, if necessary, to identify ‘rogue’ processes that should not be running. MonitorIT also has the capacity to restart the processes not running, or terminate the ‘rogue’ processes that are running. CPU & Memory utilization thresholds for running processes can be specified with correlating alerts set if those thresholds are exceeded; optionally ProcessWatch also has the ability to terminate processes that exceed thresholds.

WinServicesWatch: Real-Time Services Monitoring

WinServicesWatch monitors your selected Windows services to make sure they are running. Define alert notifications so you know when critical Windows services are not running, including services that are ‘hung’ during startup. You can optionally have MonitorIT attempt to restart these services that are not running or ‘hung’.

FileWatch: Real-Time Monitoring of Files and Folders/Subfolders

FileWatch monitors your select Windows & Linux desktop files. When administrators have appropriate Windows auditing enabled, you can know not only what, when, and where, but also who triggered the FileWatch alert.

CustomWatch: Extensible Monitoring Programming Platform

CustomWatch provides the ability to extend MonitorIT by creating monitors for your Windows desktops by executing any Windows program, command, script, or batch file executable that you provide. It runs the executable periodically on the monitored desktop according to a schedule that you specify. Use the powerful CustomWatch to create your own custom monitors but also use CustomWatch as a central Windows Job Scheduler, and easily manage the scheduled execution of all your jobs across all your desktops from the central MonitorIT Server.

Logical Drive, Physical Memory and Swap/Page File Monitoring

For the Logical Drive, Physical Memory & Swap/Page File monitoring, you can easily enable an alert notification and be notified when available Logical Drive Free Space, Available Physical Memory or Swap/Page File Free Space drops below a threshold you define.

For the Disk Drive & Swap File monitoring, you can easily enable an alert notification and be notified when available Disk Drive Free Space or Swap File Free Space drops below a threshold you define.

Registry, HW Configuration and Server Availability & Reboot Monitoring

For the Registry & Hardware Configuration monitoring, you optionally choose to be alerted when desktop Hardware Configuration changes are detected, or when select Registry Key/Value additions, changes, or deletions are detected.

With MonitorIT’s RegistryWatch, there are any number of monitoring possibilities for critical and important data changes due to the richness of the information maintained in the Registry, both hardware and software. For the Desktop Availability & Reboot Check, you optionally choose to be alerted when a monitored desktop reboot/restart check is detected, and when the desktop is detected as down and not available.

User Logon/Logoff Monitoring

Monitor thousands of desktops from one or more distributed Agents via “agentless” monitoring for interactive User Logon/Logoff status and generates a complete User Logon/Logoff status report. Each Agent can handle monitoring up to 500 servers/workstations for this interactive User Logon/Logoff activity. If, for example, an administrator were to designate 20 different distributed Agents, MonitorIT would be able to collect data from 10,000 workstations!

Videos

MonitorIT’s Intelligent Agent

All agents are NOT created equal, agent based solutions are difficult to deploy and configure, and agentless tools provide limited metrics. MonitorIT’s Intelligent agent deploys within minutes, utilizes minimal resources, and monitors the physical and virtual environments.

FAQs

Product Functionality

Once I deploy agents, do I have to restart those machines?

No. One of the features of the Intelligent Agent is the fact that once an agent is deployed to a VM, that VM does not require a reboot.

Can the agent provide any remediation efforts?

Yes. One of the features of deploying our Intelligent Agent is the fact that you can take action once a problem presents itself and automatically begin remediation.

What distributions of Linux/UNIX can you monitor?

We monitor ALL distributions of Linux/UNIX including Red Hat, SUSE, HP-UX, Solaris, Ubuntu, AIX, SCO, and more.

What versions of Windows can you monitor?

We monitor ALL versions of Windows including NT SP6, Server 2000, 2003, 2008, and more

Do I have to use the MonitorIT pre-configured rules?

No. MonitorIT’s pre-configured monitoring rules are there for ease of use and flexibility. However, you can choose to create your own monitoring rules by leveraging the built-in configuration wizards.

How difficult is it to build custom monitoring rules?

Not difficult at all. In fact, we have an easy to use wizard that will take you through the steps to set up your own monitoring rules.

Key Features and Why They Are Important

Remote Site Monitoring

Many distributed enterprises and service providers face challenges in monitoring the virtual environment outside of their core infrastructure. In order to monitor their Citrix XenServer, VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual hosts remotely, administrators often deploy secondary instances of their monitoring solutions, which complicates management or increases cost because proxies or secondary servers are required. With “Master Agent functionality,” the IT professional can designate any agent at a remote site a master agent and it will monitor remote hypervisors and surrounding infrastructure, sending exception based alerts through the firewall when predetermined thresholds are breached.

Quick to Install & Configure

New installation & configurations wizards include:
  • Auto discovery of systems
  • Auto deployment of basic monitoring rules
  • One click agent install with no reboot necessary
  • Preconfigured MIT PAKs
