Storage Performance Monitoring

High-performance storage networks are becoming more prevalent in all business data-centers, from SMBs to large enterprises. Storage-attached-network (SAN), Network-attached-storage (NAS) and other high-performance and intelligent storage management systems from EMC, NetApp and other storage vendors are critical to data-center operations. Monitoring Virtual Storage

Administrators have an ever increasing challenge to understand how the storage solutions attached to their VMware ESX/ESXi & Citrix XenServer hosts are being utilized. MonitorIT has the ability to give administrators visibility into the storage infrastructure to show overall availability of space, usage over time, and space consumption. Real Time Performance Monitoring

MonitorIT  leverages SNMP to alert and trend on bandwidth and latency performance from your storage infrastructure. Additional storage characteristics can be monitored by loading the storage device MIBs for performance trending, reporting and alerting. Administrators can create their own report sets to monitor, analyze, diagnose, and make recommendations for improving performance.  This information can then be conveniently viewed in an Excel document.

Storage Alerting with SNMP Traps & Syslog

Administrators can alert on fault conditions taking place on a storage device by receiving, analyzing, and alerting on received SNMP and Syslog messages generated by the storage infrastructure. Simply configure MonitorIT as the SNMP and Syslog recipient via the management interface and receive advance warning of pending conditions and the current status of your storage device. Alerted conditions can be reported on to support SLAs, and messages can be archived for compliance and support audit requirements.

What Storage devices/Vendors can you monitor?

MonitorIT can monitor physical or virtual storage agentlessly. With virtual storage, we leverage our APIs to VMware vSphere and Citrix XenServer while leveraging SNMP and Syslog to monitor physical storage. Within the product, we support vendors such as Dell, EMC, NetApp, IBM, and HP out-of-the-box.

What can you monitor via SNMP?

MonitorIT leverages SNMP Trap and SNMP Query Monitoring to collect information from any device that is SNMP enabled to analyze, troubleshoot, report, and provide baseline and trending data. Additionally, MonitorIT includes a MIB parsing feature to extract and make available the SNMP Trap OIDs from your server and device MIBs, to easily define the monitoring rules for SNMP Trap.

What can you monitor via Syslog ?

MonitorIT allows you to collect Syslog messages transmitted from your selected servers and network infrastructure devices such as firewalls and routers. The MonitorIT Server listens on the standard Syslog UDP port for these messages and processes them according to your specified Syslog Alerts. You can be alerted when selected Syslog messages are received, and you can use SYSLOGWatch to centralize your Syslog collection, management and reporting.

Remote Site Monitoring

Many distributed enterprises and service providers face challenges in monitoring the virtual environment outside of their core infrastructure. In order to monitor their Citrix XenServer, VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual hosts remotely, administrators often deploy secondary instances of their monitoring solutions, which complicates management or increases cost because proxies or secondary servers are required.
